Fidelity, bravery, and... integrity?
I hate to have to be the one to point it out, but the FBI might not be living up to the final word of its credo.
Webster's Dictionary defines integrity as "firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : INCORRUPTIBILITY" Yeah, that really defines the FBI. Yep, sure does. And my grandma got run over by a reindeer flying next to a pig who was following a non-melting snowball to the bottom of hell.
As the Senate Intelligence Committee wraps up its fifth and final volume on Russian interference in the 2016 election by delivering it to congress, we find a lot of interesting things, but not the things that we were promised that would be found. Shocking, isn't it? Ok, maybe I really need to stop with the sarcasm before I get too carried away.
According to Fox News, Senator Marco Rubio said that they found, “'irrefutable evidence of Russian meddling' and 'deeply troubling actions taken' by the FBI, 'particularly their acceptance and willingness to rely on the ‘Steele Dossier’ without verifying its methodology or sourcing.'”
Another important finding, according to Senator Rubio, “We can say, without any hesitation, that the Committee found absolutely no evidence that then-candidate Donald Trump or his campaign colluded with the Russian government to meddle in the 2016 election. What the Committee did find, however, is very troubling.”
Need a translation? Not keeping up with all of the craziness that's been going on? Well, here's a brief summation: THE FBI USED BOGUS INFORMATION, GIVEN BY A KNOWN BOGUS INFORMANT, THAT THEY KNEW COULD NOT BE VERIFIED, TO INVESTIGATE AND HINDER THE TRANSITION OF DONALD TRUMP.
These facts can no longer be disputed, and if it took you five volumes of congressional investigation to realize it, welcome to the party, you're REALLY late.
Basically the summation of the full five volumes is that the Russians interfered in the election, not to support either candidate, but to foment animosity and anger between the two main political ideologies within the country, and boy did they succeed.
But why, and how, did they succeed? Isn't there someone who should have realized it and put a warning out there publicly to help the American people back down and get off of each other's throats?
Why, yes, yes there is. In fact, it's the FBI in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security. Anyone out there connecting the dots yet?
Had the FBI and DHS done their jobs and gone on a full court press about Russian Interference in our election in a non-political way, we might be in a very different position today as we would all be aligned together against Russia instead of drawing battle lines against each other. But because that wasn't the desired POLITICAL outcome, that isn't what happened.
The VERY PEOPLE who should have been standing against this junk are the very people who took a fake file, full of fake information, from a person who was well known to have deep and serious credibility issues, who later admitted that the information was unverifiable even two years later, to the FISA court and then slowly leaked it to the press over the course of the first two years of the Trump presidency.
The damage has already been a catastrophic destruction of what was left of our social cohesion, and no one cares. We're all too happy being angry at each other. We're all too happy to be name calling and publicly shaming those we disagree with. We ALL feel justified in doing so, and this gave us an excuse to vent it, so we have, and will continue to.
That is why this is so important. That is why I'm so upset about it. Russia succeeded. They won this round. They got us at each other's throats just like they wanted. They drove a wedge between us as countrymen, and they know it, and they had help doing it, because it was politically expedient for some life long staffers who were mad about the election results.
I'd love to hope that we can all look at these findings and do some soul searching. Even if it's only to pull back and not give them this victory. They want us fractured, angry, fighting, and destroying ourselves. Mostly because they don't want us interfering in say, Ukraine? Hong Kong? Taiwan? If we're too busy policing and beating ourselves up, we don't have time to watch what they're doing as well.
It's like spraying the security guard with mace so you can go about your criminal behavior unimpeded. Get them focused on taking care of themselves so they can't worry about what you're doing. Great strategy, and it's working.
That's why this is so important. That's why there must be accountability for this.
Those who were negligent, or worse, culpable, in this farce that allowed Russian & China this victory should be held responsible. We need for everyone to know that they've been played. It's time to step down, ratchet down, and regain our center of balance in this country so that we can face these threats united.
That is what it's going to take. I just hope we can do it.
